Measuring the Catch – Reflecting on Growth in 2026
Scripture: Acts 2:41 (with context from Acts 2:37-47)
Opening Scripture “So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.” (Acts 2:41 ESV)
And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers… And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. (Acts 2:42, 47)
I. The Biblical Pattern: God Measures Growth by Souls Saved and Added
We are not chasing crowds. We are hunting souls. We are not building an audience. We are building a disciple-making family.
II. Celebrating What God Has Done
III. Honest Reflection: What the Catch Teaches Us
Measuring the catch is not about patting ourselves on the back. It’s about learning like fishermen who study the waters.
Go now as fishers of men and shepherds of the flock. Measure faithfully, celebrate joyfully, and prepare expectantly. The Lord is still adding to the number daily those who are being saved.
